The Cartographer’s Dream Bead Embroidered Necklace
The Cartographer’s Dream feels like a collection of fragments gathered from an imagined journey—old maps, weathered metal, botanical forms and curious objects assembled into a richly detailed talisman.
The focal piece builds through layers of pattern and texture. A dark central cabochon with abstract, almost architectural markings is framed by deep green and metallic beadwork, flanked by warm bronze-toned discs etched with swirling, topographical patterns. Below, a long ivory, brown and burgundy cabochon introduces fluid organic lines, while small green crystals, pearl-like drops and intricate bead embroidery add flashes of light.
Above, a softly luminous pearl-like cabochon crowns the composition, connecting the pendant to a strand of turquoise, ochre and antique-bronze beads. The mixture of earthy colour, intricate pattern and unexpected details gives the necklace the character of an object assembled from the souvenirs of a journey that may never have existed.
The necklace measures 52 cm long, with the pendant measuring 9.5 cm long × 4 cm wide.
The Cartographer’s Dream is intricate, curious and quietly fantastical—a piece for someone drawn to beautiful things with stories that remain just out of reach.
