The House of Eternity

For thousands of years they have rested undisturbed.

Buried beneath desert sands. Hidden within forgotten tombs. Sealed behind stone doors and sacred inscriptions. The sarcophagus was more than a coffin—it was a vessel designed to carry the dead into eternity, preserving both body and identity against the relentless passage of time.

Within its silent chamber, centuries pass like moments.

Dust settles.

Empires rise and fall.

And still it waits.

Sarcophagus explores the atmosphere of ancient tombs, funerary rites, and the enduring human desire to conquer death through remembrance.

Thick dust forms the first impression of the fragrance, dry and pervasive. It evokes sealed chambers untouched for centuries, forgotten burial vaults, and the moment a tomb is opened after millennia of silence. There is age here—not decay, but preservation.

Aged wood emerges beneath the dust, carrying the scent of ancient coffers, funerary furnishings, and objects crafted to accompany the dead into the next world. Time has softened its edges, leaving behind a quiet dignity that permeates the composition.

Lavender and Egyptian musk drift through the darkness like traces of long-forgotten embalming rituals. The lavender lends an unexpected calm, while the musk creates an atmosphere that feels both sacred and deeply personal. Together they suggest the care once taken to prepare the deceased for eternity.

Oudh, frankincense, and opopanax form the spiritual heart of the fragrance. Rich resins curl through the composition like incense smoke rising within a temple. They evoke sacred rites, whispered prayers, and the profound belief that death was not an ending, but a journey.

Saffron glimmers amongst the darker notes like fragments of gold buried within the tomb. Warm and precious, it lends a regal quality to the fragrance, recalling the treasures, amulets, and offerings interred alongside the dead.

Then comes an unexpected note.

Hops.

Dry and faintly bitter, it lends the fragrance an ancient, almost medicinal character. It feels archaeological in nature, as though fragments of forgotten plants and offerings have survived alongside the body they were meant to accompany.

Vanilla and rose emerge slowly from the shadows, softening the more austere elements. The rose speaks of remembrance and reverence, while the vanilla lends a gentle warmth that prevents the fragrance from becoming cold or distant. They are the human heart hidden within the stone monument.

Sarcophagus is a fragrance of preservation, reverence, and eternity. It honours the ancient belief that memory could triumph over mortality and that a name spoken thousands of years later was a kind of immortality all its own.

Because long after flesh has faded and kingdoms have fallen, remembrance remains.
