Red Letter Day Bead Embroidered Brooch

Red Letter Day is a joyful collision of colour, pattern and texture, built around a wonderfully simple red flower.

The floral textile cabochon forms the heart of the piece, its slightly nostalgic illustration surrounded by a brilliant ring of green crystals and fine ivory beadwork. Above it sits a bold scarlet cabochon, framed by warm cream, muted mauve and gold-toned beads.

A pair of bronze Ginkgo beads bridges the two sections, their unusual fan-like shape adding a distinctly contemporary detail and breaking up the otherwise rounded forms. Tiny metallic and glass beads complete the embroidery, giving the edges a beautifully intricate finish.

Measuring approximately 7 cm × 5 cm, Red Letter Day has plenty of presence without becoming oversized. The unexpected combination of scarlet, green, cream and bronze makes it particularly effective against a simple blazer or jacket.
