Bolgia 3 - Simony 5ml - Pink grapefruit, musked green tea and sugar.
The Price of Salvation
Some things should never be bought.
Some things should never be sold.
Yet throughout history there have always been those willing to place a price upon the sacred.
In the Third Bolgia of Malebolge dwell the Simoniacs—those who corrupted religious office for personal gain, buying and selling positions, blessings, influence, and spiritual authority. They transformed faith into commerce and treated the divine as a commodity to be traded.
Their crime was not greed alone.
It was corruption.
The belief that holiness itself could be purchased.
Bolgia III – Simony explores the uneasy intersection of purity and profit, faith and transaction, devotion and ambition.
Pink grapefruit opens the fragrance with a brilliant burst of brightness. Fresh, radiant, and uplifting, it evokes the appearance of virtue—the polished exterior presented to the world. Like a magnificent cathedral façade, it is immediately impressive and seemingly beyond reproach.
Musked green tea forms the heart of the fragrance. Calm, contemplative, and refined, it suggests spiritual reflection, sacred rituals, and the pursuit of wisdom. There is a quiet dignity within the note, a sense of order and purpose that speaks to the ideals religion strives to embody.
Yet woven through these noble elements is sugar.
Soft, alluring, and deceptively innocent.
At first it seems harmless, merely lending comfort and appeal to the composition. But gradually it begins to alter the balance. The purity of the tea becomes sweetened. The brightness of the grapefruit becomes more indulgent. What was once spiritual becomes pleasurable. What was once sacred becomes desirable.
The transformation is subtle.
That is what makes it dangerous.
Together, the notes create a fragrance that feels clean, luminous, and attractive, yet carries an undercurrent of corruption. Nothing appears overtly wrong. In fact, everything appears rather pleasant. The sacred has not been rejected.
It has simply been commercialised.
Bolgia III – Simony is a fragrance of temptation, compromise, and misplaced priorities. It explores the moment when spiritual ideals become subordinate to worldly gain and reminds us that corruption rarely begins with evil intentions.
It begins with justification.
