Bolgia 7 - Thieves 5ml - Darkest patchouli, bourbon vetiver, frankincense and armoise.
What Is Taken
A thief steals more than an object.
They steal certainty.
Trust.
Security.
The simple belief that what belongs to you will still be there tomorrow.
In Dante's Inferno, the Seventh Bolgia is inhabited by thieves, forever tormented by serpents and subjected to endless transformations. Bodies merge, identities dissolve, and ownership itself becomes meaningless. Just as thieves took what belonged to others in life, they now find their own forms stolen from them in death.
Nothing remains truly theirs.
Not even themselves.
Bolgia VII – Thieves explores loss, secrecy, and the corrosive nature of taking what was never freely given.
Patchouli forms the heart of the fragrance, rich and shadowed. Earthy and enigmatic, it evokes hidden passageways, moonless nights, and secrets buried beneath layers of soil and time. There is something furtive about it, always present yet difficult to fully grasp.
Bourbon vetiver deepens the darkness further. Dry, smoky, and uncompromising, it lends the fragrance a sense of stealth and calculation. It is the scent of careful planning, patient observation, and opportunities waiting to be exploited.
Frankincense threads through the composition with an unexpected solemnity. Traditionally associated with sacred spaces and spiritual devotion, its presence creates a striking tension. It reminds us that theft is not merely the loss of property, but the violation of trust. Something valuable has been taken from both victim and perpetrator alike.
Armoise drifts through the shadows with a cool, bittersweet character. Herbal, camphoraceous, and faintly unsettling, it evokes misdirection, illusion, and uncertainty. Like the transformations suffered by Dante's thieves, it blurs boundaries and obscures identity, making it difficult to determine where one thing ends and another begins.
Together, the notes create a fragrance that feels dark, elusive, and constantly shifting. The composition never fully settles, moving between earth, smoke, resin, and bitter herbs in much the same way the thieves themselves move between forms.
Bolgia VII – Thieves is a fragrance of secrecy, transgression, and loss. It explores the consequences of taking what does not belong to us and the unsettling truth that every act of theft changes the thief as much as the victim.
Because eventually, the things we steal begin to steal from us.
