After a great deal of work behind the scenes, Wild Hybrid is now live at its new online home: wild-hybrid.com.au.
The move to a new website has been a significant undertaking, but the store is now open and ready to explore.
For those who have known Wild Hybrid for some time, you’ll find plenty that is familiar. The fragrances, jewellery and other creations that have grown around Wild Hybrid are still here—along with the strange characters, histories, mythologies and stories that have always found their way into what I make.
What has changed is the space that contains them.
The new site gives Wild Hybrid a better home and, importantly, more room to grow. Collections are easier to explore, individual pieces have more space to tell their stories, and the whole store better reflects the slightly unusual world that Wild Hybrid has become over the years.
Fragrance, Jewellery & Other Curiosities
Wild Hybrid has never fitted particularly neatly into one category.
There are fragrances inspired by mythology, literature, history and imagined lives. There are elaborate pieces of jewellery built slowly from beads, textiles, clay, glass and unexpected materials. There are soaps and other things that simply seemed as though they ought to exist.
Some creations are beautiful. Some are peculiar. Quite a few are both.
The new store brings all of these things together under one roof while allowing each collection to retain its own character.
Still Wild Hybrid
Although the surroundings have changed, the philosophy behind Wild Hybrid hasn't.
I still make things because an idea refuses to leave me alone.
A perfume might begin with a mythological figure, an obscure historical detail, a fictional character or simply the idea of how a particular place might smell. A piece of jewellery might start with a strange bead, a fragment of colour or a material sitting on the workbench waiting for its purpose to become apparent.
From there, things tend to develop in their own direction.
That unpredictability has always been part of Wild Hybrid, and I have no intention of tidying it away.
Come and Have a Look Around
The doors are open, the shelves are stocked, and the new Wild Hybrid store is officially live.
There will inevitably be more added, changed and discovered as I settle into the new space—and plenty of new creations are already waiting in the wings.
